Auto Cad / Architectural / Designer Internship

Crawford Construction Co. is a Design Build Firm based in the Chicago land/Southwest Suburbs seeking CAD/Architectural/Interior Designer interns who are interested in growing with a seasoned experience company.  Our Design Department provides construction drawings, design consultation, in house contractors, and architectural illustrations/renderings for property owners, builders and General Contractors. We dedicate ourselves to provide luxury custom residential as well as storefronts, restaurants and club designs, catering to the tastes and lifestyles of all clients with a creative, innovative and practical building approach.

We are seeking for applicants who are interested in internship position that would eventually lead to a permanent position with the company. This is a unique opportunity to gain vital experience in this exciting & competitive field. Hope you are excited to become part of this small but exciting and productive design team.

General Responsibilities:

Job responsibilities include: production / drafting for high-end residential architectural project, working with consultants and clients to meet project expectation, prepare submittal items for planning/building department.

Position entails occasional field work and light travel locally. Work hours can be flexible.

  • Create new product drawings/models & complete necessary calculations

  • Create / update product drawings & calculations necessary for product modifications.

  • Track & respond to subcontractors RFI’s (Request for Information), ECRs (Engineering Change Requests) & NPRs (New Product Requests) with research of needed change,

  • Make drawing/model changes for COO & staff upon request.

  • Utilize basic engineering for some basic product designs

  • Responsible for hiring and coordinating daily work load of interns, as needed

  • Reviews regulatory artwork for production and manufacturing

Skills:

  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint

  • Communication skills to organize problem solving which is then reflected in drawing.

  • Mechanical design knowledge.

  • Ability to create and update Gant Charts/Construction Schedules.

  • Leadership abilities

  • Exposure – CAD/REVIT

  • Exposure – IN Design/Photoshop

  • Experience with interior architecture/ millwork design.

  • Familiar with Residential Construction Working Documents (ability to read an analyze plans).

  • Familiar with general framing and construction details and processes

  • Previous experiences or relevant knowledge for high-end residential design.

  • Commitment to professionalism and efficiency.

  • Understanding the different interior styles (ex. Traditional, modern, eclectic, contemporary & transitional).

  • Design Library organization/upkeep

Assisting with color, fixtures, furniture, fabric selections
